Extraordinary meeting to discuss club rules

The club’s annual general meeting on Thursday 9th July will be followed by an Extraordinary General Meeting.  The purpose will be to discuss the way the club will be run in the future.

There are two agenda items:

1  to authorise the club’s executive committee to continue working towards the incorporation of the Vale of Lune Rugby Union Football Club in accordance with recommendations from the Rugby Football Union and in accordance with the Memorandum and Articles and Rules and Regulations which will be available on the night.

2  to authorise the club’s executive committee to continue working towards achieving charitable status for the club’s junior/mini section.

The annual meeting starts at 7.30pm.

Vale season begins at Aspatria

Vale of Lune’s season gets underway on September 5th with any away game against old rivals Aspatria.  They end the season in April next year with a home game against the same Cumbrian club.  With 14 teams in North West One there is the prospect of a long and competitive season.  With that in mind training starts at Vale on 2nd July and Directors of Rugby, Andy Higgin and Steve Swarbrick are expecting a big turn-out of players.  Andy said: “It is important we get off to a good start in what will be a very tough league.  The opening game at Aspatria will be a tester and should give us an early indication as to the standard we can expect.”

Kirkby Lonsdale win first 10s event

Kirkby Lonsdale won the Heineken 10s tournament at Vale, beating a speedy and youthful Fylde side in a thrilling final.  The Old Lancastrians, with several Vale players in the team, won the Plate tournament.  In all 12 teams were registered for the event and it is hoped that a similar event will be held again next year.  Vale secretary, Peter Lovett-Horn said: “A lot of hard work went into the organisation and everybody seemed pleased with the outcomes.”
