About Us:     

Vale of Lune Rugby Club is a club for each and every member, young or old. On Sunday mornings our thriving mini section takes to Powderhouse Lane.   We have more than 100 boys and girls in 6 age groups ranging from under 6’s to under 12′ s. We have a large number of RFU qualified coaches each and every one of whom is passionate about their rugby. 

Whether your child is a potential England star of the future or simply wants to learn and enjoy this great game in a safe and warm environment, then Vale of Lune is the ideal place to make the start.  

For those of you new to the club you are welcome to let your child come along and join in traing for two weeks, if as we are sure they will, enjoy themselves, to play, they must be officially registered with the Club & RFU. The players’ age group is determined by their age as of the 1st September. Players must be a minimum of 5 years old as of this date.

Registration:-

Just come along to the clubhouse @ Powderhouse Lane on Sunday 5th September from 10am and register.  You will need to complete this seasons membership form which is available to download from this site Membership Form  & available on the day from the team managers for each age group, new players will also need to provide 2 passport sized photographs for their RFU registration. Please make sure to bring a cheque made out to Vale of Lune RUFC. For this season registration costs:  
1 Player ………………………………£ 40.00 
2 Players ……………………………..£ 75.00

Family Membership ……………….£100.00 – 2 Adults (with voting rights) & 2 Playing Children
                                     ………………. £ 52.50 – 1 Adult (with voting rights) & 1 Playing Child
Each subsequent child…………….£ 20.00 

and for this the player will be a fully fledged member of the Club and covered by its insurance policy.

Training:-

Training for the Mini section (Under 7 – Under 12) takes place at Heysham High School All-Weather pitch every Thusday evening from 6 – 7 pm. This is a fantastic facility that provides continuity of training throughout the season especially during very wet or cold conditions when often natural turf pitches are unusable. The cost per player per season for Thursday night training sessions is £40, this can be paid in one installment by the end of September or in two smaller installments; £20 by the end of September followed by a further £20 by the end of January.

Training also takes place on Sunday mornings when there is no scheduled fixtures for the age group, at Powderhouse Lane from 11 – 12.30 am there are no charges for these sessions.

Matches:-

Under 7 & Under 8 age groups play tag rugby, matches are 7 aside and last 10 minutes each way. It is usual to play 2 or 3 games at a fixture.

Under 9 & Under 10 age groups play contact rugby, matches are 9 aside and last 15 minutes each way. It is usual to play 2 games at a fixture.

Under 11 & Under 12 age groups also play contact rugby, matches are 12 aside and last 20 minutes each way.

Players are provided with a match shirt to play in.

Equipment:-

All players are required to wear a gum shield for both training & matches, rugby boots with studs (not blades) & trainers for sessions at Heysham High School All-Weather pitch. For training clothing should be robust enough to accommodate the contact elements of the game and it is essential that both for training & matches players have enough clothing to keep them warm on & off the field. Headguards & body armour are optional for both training & matches.

Match Kit: Navy shorts, red  & white hoop socks, Match shirt (provided by club)
