It’s typical of Fred to say he doesn’t know why he received such V.I.P. trreatment, compared with the others staying at the Lensbury: Because of Fred and his committee of the N.W.Leagues, thousands of rugby players enjoy League Rugby every Saturday, whereas many hundreds were previously left without a game because the opposition were not sufficiently motivated to turn up. Also, because of Fred’s drive and determination we are all playing more fixtures, due to the increased size of our Leagues: This means more revenue from club activities – and retention of our players, through weekly involvement..

Not only was Fred deserving of the hospitality shown by the R.F.U., he should be in line for an O.B.E.

Fred you obviously had a good time and it was well deserved. Glad that Martin Johnson took time out to greet Madeleine and I hope she gave him a few ideas on selection. He needs then.

Brilliant as always. I am pleased that Keith’s injury is not to severe and he enjoys his trip to Oz and that Lee and Fraser are soon back in the fray.

Were you watching the same game?
Vale played with grit and a fair amount of fire but were never in contention and due to the ref being lets just say “flexible” with his interpretation of the rules, LSH would have had at least two more pushover tries!
Vale will be safe I think and thank you for a good game, however whilst the report acknowledges that LSH deserved the victory, it should also accurately reflect the dominance of the oppostion and not build false images, the team would not benefit from that.
