THE BATTLE OF CARLISLE
CARLISLE LADIES 7 VALE LADIES 10
RFUW Championship North
A sub less Vale travelled to Carlisle with only 15 players only to be faced by a side who were intent on STAMPING their authority on the game, but thanks to Vale's gritty determination they failed to do so.
Vale opened the scoring following an amazing cross field kick by Cleggy, which was bravely chased down by Kat and eventually picked up and grounded over the line by Zoe Bayne. Carlisle were visibly shaken by this and threw everything at the solid Vale defence. With excellent line out and massive determination Vale were able to see Carlislr try less into the second half.
The forwards continued to battle in the second half and with some storming runs from Woman of the Match, Sally Wilkinson, they endeavoured to put together some great back line play between Cleggy and Redmond which led to a second try for Vale. Carlisle never gave up and managed a consolation try and conversion. However Vale, now down to 12 players saw the game out in style.
